This holiday season we wanted to share our favorite cookie recipe. This delicious Pumpkin-Spiced star cookie recipe is from Better Homes & Garden. The ingredients were simple and the recipe in all was easy to make. They are delicious and definitely recommend trying them for this holiday season.
Here’s what you will need:
1 17.5 ounce sugar cookie mix
1/3 cups Butter (melted)
1 egg
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 recipe Browned butter Icing or your favorite icing.
Gather all ingredients and preheat oven to 375 F. Once you have them all, combine them in a large bowl. Use a wooden spoon and stir them together. After it is well combine and forms into dough, we found it easier to use your hands and need it together. This makes combining the ingredients easier and helps you fully combine it together better.
The recipe calls for a lightly-floured surface which we changed to 2-sheets of parchment paper. It made the process a whole lot easier to clean. We took our dough and split it into 4 parts. It wasn’t precise just took a chunk out and placed it in between the parchment paper. We then used the rolling pin and rolled on top of the second piece of parchment paper, so the dough is sandwich between the papers and rolled it out to ¼ inch thickness. Once it’s rolled out you can use any cookie cutter to cut out the shapes and placed them on a baking tray or a cookie sheet. Repeat until you have used up all the dough.
We placed the cut out cookies in the fridge for about 10 mins and then placed them in the oven. This helped keep their shape a little better. You can also place them straight in the oven after cutting them out.
Bake them in the oven for 8 minutes or until the bottom of the cookies have darken a bit. Once they are out of the oven placed them in a cooling rack to cool down to ice them. We took some creative liberties and decorated them with our logo using royal icing. But the browned butter icing is simple to make and tastes amazing!
