There’s no other greater reminder that summer is coming to an end than the kids going back to school, and the pools closing. Now is a great time to prepare your home for that cold season. Here are 3 things you can do now to prepare for the winter season
- Seal the cracks. This will help you save in heating costs and prevent any water damage. Fall season is perfect for exterior inspecting. Look around your windows and doors for any cracks in the wood or holes. It’s easier to fix now than in those low temperatures in the winter time.
- Rotten wood. As you are inspecting for areas that may need caulking, look around for areas that are in need of wood repair. These areas will be darker and can sometimes be visibly damaged and distorted.
- Clean gutters. As simple as this task may be, it is just as important. If you don’t clean your gutters out before the first snow storm and low temperature than you may be looking at icicles on your rain gutters. This is especially dangerous if we have a big snow fall as the icicles may be larger in size.
