Frequently Asked Questions About Deck Staining & Painting

1.What is Deck sealer

Deck sealer is typically a transparent coat that seeps deep into the wood and forms a clear film on the surface while maintaining the wood’s natural finish. By penetrating the wood, the sealer creates a protective layer that helps minimize water infiltration and lock out moisture.

2. What is Deck Paint

Deck paint can be either oil-based or acrylic — both are good products. Oil-based paint has the advantage of being slower-drying, which makes outdoor application easier and more mistake-free. Acrylic paints have less VOCs and clean up easier.

3. What is Solid Stain

solid stain is, essentially, a paint. Both are films that sit on the surface of a substrate. A penetrating stain differs from a solid stain entirely in that the product actually absorbs into the wood. … A solid stain will better accentuate the texture of the wood, so a rough surface likely calls for stain over paint.

4. What is a Semi-Sold Stain

This unique semisolid/semi-opaque finish masks the wood grain but allows texture to show through. While SemiSolid Stains provide greater opacity, they still highlight the natural texture of wood and provide a deep-penetrating, flat finish.

5. What is a Semi-Transparent Stain

SemiTransparent stains introduce delicate color to the wood’s surface. SemiTransparent stains contain the lightest pigmentation designed to accentuate natural wood grain and character. Review our opacity scale to determine your perfect balance of color and protection.

6. What is Transparent Stain or Clear Stain

Transparent Stain: A clear finish will show the most amount of wood grain and impact the color of your wood the least, allowing it to weather naturally.

We had drywall repair and painting done by Image Painting and are very pleased with their work! An added bonus: we didn't need to prepare for their arrival by moving anything for them -- they did a great job moving and covering everything that needed moving and covering. Highly recommend them!

I engaged Image Painting to close some ceiling gaps throughout the house and to repair some water damage from a roof leak in one room. That damage turned out to be more substantial than initially estimated, so it led to a change order and to removing half of the old plaster ceiling and replacing it with drywall. Their team worked very diligently and the end result is a seamless blending between the old and new structure. Every day they reported to work at 8 am, laid down protective coverings, and cleaned up at the end of their work day. The project manager was checking in often on the progress of the project. I would recommend their services.

Image did a fantastic job with our primary bedroom, hallway, and half bath. They answered all of our questions, communicated well, and just did a great pain job in general. They even fixed our bedroom door to help it close better. They also removed old painted-over wallpaper. I would use them again!
