The Timeline of Exterior Paint Jobs

One of the most common questions customers ask when we meet with them to provide an estimate is, “How long will it take?”

Obviously, there is not a single cut and dry answer to this question because every job comes with different circumstances – HOA rules, weather, wood repairs and size to name a few. In general, once we actively begin the project, you should expect it to take three to five days if we’re doing the entire exterior of your home.

So, what is the process for giving your house its new and updated exterior look?

First, we come out and see the property in order to provide an estimate and answer any questions you may have about the project.

Second, we prep the home for paint. This may include things like removing peeled paint, caulking around windows and doors and repairing any areas of rotten wood we find.

Third, we begin to carefully apply the primer and high quality exterior paint in the selected color. The actual painting process will likely take more than one day.

Finally, the paint is left to dry. Your newly painted home should be dry to the touch within a few hours, but will take nearly 24 to be fully dry. Also, it’s important to watch the weather. Ideally, we would like to avoid applying a new coat of paint if rain is on the way.

No matter the size of the project, our team will be able to discuss a timeline with you at the time of the estimate, and also explain any weather-related considerations to think about. Schedule your exterior painting estimate today.
